21A - Reading Reflection No. 2
The book I chose to read from the second half of the reading list was Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. The general theme or argument in the book is human irrationality when it comes to making decisions and solving problems. I definitely felt like this book connected with and enhanced what we are learning because Kahneman discusses human psychology in decision making and problem solving which is a vital component of the consumer buying behavior process. Knowing your customer and how their mind works and will perceive different products is crucial in business, especially if you're starting your own company. If I had to design an exercise based on the book, I would try to come up with something that recognizes the 2 different systems in our brains that Kahneman discusses and how those affect the consumer buying behavior. The biggest surprise to me in reading this book was the pure brain power that we all possess that is untapped. I have never taken a psychology course so this book was very interesting and enlightening.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your reflection about Thinking, Fast and Slow. Your reflection makes me want to read the book eventually. I think it is important that we understand and work on our own psychology as humans. I like how you tied the psychologies in the book to the class and understanding the brain as it pertains to buying behavior. Great entry.
